Move, sort, upload

Script

If you know how to work with files, you already know how to use most of Boomla.

Let’s compare a website to Windows Explorer. On top, we have the path. On top, we have the path. On the left, we have a navigation panel. On the left, we have a navigation panel. On the right, we can see what is in the current directory. On the right, we can see what is on the current page.

The menu of a website, is much like the directory tree of your filesystem. Contents on your website, are like files on your filesystem. ..except, on the filesystem, you can’t see, what is in those files. In Boomla, those files are immediately shown. ..or, wait a second! We do have a large icons view! Except, you can’t interact with those files, unless you open them first. Boomla takes this idea to next level, and makes them immediately usable, without first opening them.

Everything is a file

Boomla is completely file based. There is no database. That, makes it extremely simple to use. Every file has an icon, which will show up, once you hover your mouse over the file. It functions as handle to the file. So, through the icon, you can grab the file.

On your PC, to move an image to different directory, you would just drag it over. In Boomla, to move an image to different page, you would just grab it by its icon and drag it over.

On your PC, to move a directory to a different one, you would just drag it over. In Boomla, to move a page into an other one, you would just drag it over.

Files are ordered

These images, are just files in the gallery. To sort these images, just grab an image, and move it to a different position. Same goes for contents on a page, or pages themselves. That works because the Boomla Filesystem is ordered. Thus, in Boomla, sorting, and moving, are the same thing.

You may notice, that the gallery is a content on the page. So, it’s a file. At the same time, it contains the images, which are files as well. That’s because in Boomla, files and directories are the same concept. So, while on your PC, only directories can contain files, in Boomla files can also contain files. You will quickly get used to this, as it will make your life so much easier!

That way, you can easily move an image out of a gallery, or move it back. You can also move an entire gallery to a different page.

File upload

To upload an image onto your website, just drag it onto your page. You can also upload multiple images at the same time.
